Ms. Stephenwoof serves as a professional consultant on major development projects to meet contracting goals for small, disadvantaged, minority, women-owned and veteran-owned business participation. Her clients include the Federal, State and Local Governments and the private sector. Her commitment is to ensure that local businesses and residents are able to participate in the economic resurgence of the Washington Metropolitan Area. Some of her recent accomplishments included facilitating the first written partnership between a developer and a community being impacted by major development, to providing tangible benefits to its local residents and businesses. This model has set the precedence in communities throughout Washington, DC. Ms. Stephenwoof worked on the construction of the Unified Communication Center, which was the first city-funded project to amend the procurement language for "35% LSDBE" participation from merely a GOAL to a REQUIREMENT. She currently manages LSDBE participation on the construction of the new St. Elizabeths Hospital and the renovation of various District of Columbia Public Schools. Ms. Stephenwoof currently serves as President of the National Association of Minority Contractors–Washington Metropolitan Area Chapter; an advocacy group for minority contractors in Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Over the past three years, she has assisted in creating forums to expose minority contractors to the vast amount of construction planned or underway in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Ms. Stephenwoof volunteers to assist local communities and residents in establishing and maintaining economic and business development programs. She has served as a member of various economic development and resident-oriented empowerment initiatives. She has also received local, national and international recognition for managing special events, and has spearheaded the exposure of minorities to the lucrative wedding industry. Ms. Stephenwoof has received numerous awards and accolades in honor of her distinguished public service. She has been honored for her achievements by the United States Congress, the Mayor of the District of Columbia, Council of the District of Columbia, the Democratic State Committee, the Smithsonian Institution's Anacostia Neighborhood Community Museum, major corporations and various community groups. Ms. Stephenwoof was most recently recognized as one of Maryland's "2007 Top 100 Minority Business Enterprises" by the Governor of Maryland. |
